On November 10th, IAVA hosted its Third Annual Heroes Gala at Gotham Hall in New York City. The inspiring event, held on the eve of Veterans Day, brought together more than 350 veterans of all generations, distinguished members of the veterans' community and IAVA supporters from across the country to honor Iraq Veteran and Actor J.R. Martinez and President of MTV Networks Music and Logo Group Van Toffler for their support of our nation's newest generation of veterans.
On Veterans Day, IAVA Member Veterans participated in more than a dozen parades nationwide from New York to the San Fernando Valley. In New York City, more than 150 IAVA Member Veterans and their families gathered to march in the city's flagship Veterans Day Parade. The theme of this year’s celebration was “We’ve Got Your Back,” the new tagline of IAVA’s Veteran Support Campaign.
On Veterans Day, IAVA and the Ad Council launched the world premiere of the new television PSA Camouflage, encouraging veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan to connect with one another online at IAVA's Community of Veterans, the first and only social networking site exclusively for Iraq and Afghanistan veterans. In less than 24 hours, the new ad debuted on Facebook, CNN, MTV, and Spike TV reaching a wide audience of new veterans.
